The Country Comes to the City
(WE MADE IT!)

Welcome to New York City.  It's Monday morning February 11th and we repacked the truck (in some order that will allow us to find things again) and have made it to New York City.  Now for some reason, even though merchandise was sold for Rescue, there STILL didn't seem to be enough room for Rolex.  So he was sitting in my lap.

We made it to the hotel and I hold him while Jim runs in to check on our reservations.  Reservations are good but the room wasn't ready.  Well now there's a problem.  Becky Stowe, the Rescue publicist, was standing outside the truck waiting for me to get out and I couldn't because Rolex was in my lap.  But carefully getting out, I was able to leave him in the front seat and help Jim unpack all the stuff.  Then we had to sit and wait in the lobby with the two dogs while Jim took the truck down to long term parking.  (If you didn't take it out of the truck, you weren't getting it!)

We finally got into the room, got organized and headed out for an early dinner, because we had to set up at the Garden at 9 PM.  One of the things on my list to do was to get to see the Empire State Building lit up in honor of Westminster and this I did.  And, of course, since I work at Macy's in Portland every Christmas, I had to make that pilgrimage also.

Now it's back to the room, grab what we need to get set up and head back out again.  The setup time is 9:00 PM and you aren't allowed in until that time.  It's a short walk, but it is COLD and WINDY! And guess what ~ they won't let us in!  So we are all stood outside in the cold making jokes and got to know each other.  Good friends, good camaraderie!

Finally we got in, found a pretty good spot in the grooming area, found the benching space for the next day and took a check of the vendors. (And of course, stuck our heads in the door to check out the groups going on.) And then it's back to the hotel to walk dogs, relax and get a good night's sleep.  Tomorrow is the BIG DAY!
